We don't shoot or kill the cleric or
medic in the battlefield. They are not a part of the war. They work to
minimize the death and damage done by all sides of the war.
It is our obligation to be compassionate
to those who need it. It is our responsibility to overcome the limitations
of laws and languages to ensure for all people, true equality of civil
rights, religious freedoms and to forever hold sacred our planet and it's
finite resources.
Friendship is a

"It was supposed that lost spirits were roving about

they searched long and patiently enough...[The spirit] sang its
spiritual song for the child to memorize and use when calling upon the
spirit guardian as an adult." - Mourning Dove [Christine Quintasket],

We live, we die, and like the grass and
trees, renew ourselves from the soft earth of the grave. Stones crumble
and decay, faiths grow old and they are forgotten but new beliefs are
born. The faith of the villages is dust now...but it will grow
again...like the trees. - Chief Joseph
The continuity of
practices and constructs of religious service - ceremonies - - by
American Indian people is remarkable. No lifeway or religion, of course,
no matter how traditional, can claim to be practiced exactly as it was
one or two or three hundred or a thousand years ago, in the context of
tribal culture and history.
Nevertheless, despite adaptations and change, many Native peoples
sustain practices and ceremonies around various traditions that directly
emerge from the long-standing history of tribal cross-culturalization
and ritual growth in the Americas.
Peace is not merely the absence of tension, it is the
presence of justice -
Dr. Martin Luther King
To guide our congregation towards the
realization of world tolerance, peace and community involvement.
To promote inter-disciplinary cooperation and participation in the
proactive protection of Mother Earth, her peoples, resources and
wildlife. We are all children of the same creator and equally
responsible for the same earth.
To embed and imbue within our youth, solid family and community
values. Faith, family and community are the birthright and noble
responsibility of the children that inherit the earth. Blessed are
the children who seek out, in earnest, the truth.
To live and learn in a manner that is consistent with our
sincerely held spiritual beliefs and in accordance with our
conscience and the Divine Laws and Universal Truth of our people.
The media controls the way people think, act and react. We must
take great care, how much stock we place in corporations that make
outright lies to further private interests.

Wisdom of the Elders
"If you
talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each
other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them and what
you do not know, you will fear. What one fears, one destroys." -
Chief Dan George
"I am a red man. If the Great Spirit
had desired me to be a white man he would have made me so in the
first place. He put in your heart certain wishes and plans, in my
heart he put other and different desires. Each man is good in his
sight. It is not necessary for Eagles to be Crows. We are poor..but
we are free. No white man controls our footsteps. If we must
die...we die defending our rights." - Sitting Bull, Hunkpapa
Sioux
“The old
Indian teaching was that is is wrong to tear loose from its
place on the earth anything that may be growing there. It may be cut
off, but it should not be uprooted. The trees and the grass have
spirits. Whatever one of such growth may be destroyed by some good
Indian, his act is done in sadness and with a prayer for
forgiveness because of his necessities...” - Wooden Leg (late 19th
century)

All plants are our brothers and

Man has responsiblity, not

"The
American Indian is of the soil,
whether it be the region of forests, plains, pueblos, or mesas. He fits
into the landscape, for the hand that fashioned the continent also
fashioned the man for his surroundings. He once grew as naturally as the
wild sunflowers, he belongs just as the
buffalo
belonged...." - Luther Standing Bear, Oglala

"Everything
on the earth has a purpose, every disease an herb to cure it, and
every person a mission. This is the

"The Great Spirit is in all things.
He is in the air we breathe. The Great Spirit is our Father, but the

"Children were encouraged to develop
strict discipline and a high regard for sharing. When a girl picked
her first berries and dug her first roots, they were given away to
an elder so she would share her future success. When a child carried
water for the home, an elder would give compliments, pretending to
taste meat in water carried by a boy or berries in that of a girl.
The child was encouraged not to be lazy and to grow straight like a
sapling." -Mourning Dove [Christine Quintasket] (1888-1936) Salish

others in their view and demand that they respect yours." - Chief

Definition of Religion
Web Partners
What is the definition of religion?
Throughout history it has defined both nations and the principles of
moral values. In many religions throughout the world, many of the
inspirations and founding principles are brought forth by a single
person or deity who has a vastly contrasting opinion to popular beliefs,
hope for a better future, and a plan. Popular Religion and governments
are usually structured in much the same way and are much more organized
than ever before in history but does this change the way in which a
religion or theology is born? Do the beliefs of the one, constitute a
religion if they are held sincerely? Should we aid growing religions
that may have drastically different ideas about the world just because
our ideas and ways of life conflict?
There was the universe. Then
there was Mother Earth. She brought forth all manner of animal and
plant life in pure intent. Then she created people. People spread
across the land in wondrous variety but without direction. It was
then that Mother Earth planted a Seed within the hearts and minds of
the people. The Seed took root and grew into the Pure One. The Pure
One is the mirrored perfection of our Enlightened Mind, Divine and
all powerful, all knowing in His knowledge of Universal Truth. The
Pure One is the Teacher of the People and Protector of Mother Earth.
Mother Earth then created the Tree of Wisdom and the Tree of Life.
The Tree of Wisdom was given freely to the people as a Divine Tool
of great spiritual power, as a tool for prayer and meditation, as a
bridge for the Sacred Communion of People and for the healing of all
nations. The Word of the Teacher transforms and heals the soul when
empowered by the Tree. The people tasted the Tree of Wisdom and were
freely given all knowledge but in segments broken by language and
time. The Pure One and Mother Earth hid the Tree of Life and sent
people out of Mother Earth’s beautiful garden with a simple promise.
If the people could learn the lessons of Universal Truth and
overcome the barriers of language and time, then the Pure One would
take people back to the Gates of Mother Earth’s Garden. People would
then partake the Tree of Life and live forever, united by their
differences, in a Heaven of world peace.
The Pure One has given us lessons in all tongues and through many
many messengers. Mother Earth has given us the Tree of Wisdom to
unlock the Universal Truths from the Pure One’s puzzle. The Tree
unlocks the Word. The Word
transforms the soul. Misplace the Word and be corrupted.
The People and the Eagle.. The
Present
The people are now starting to understand their unique spiritual nature
in more profound ways. The Eagle has collected the varied languages
and guides the people in learning the lessons of time. They strive
with purest intent to unlock the gates of world peace. Each feather
of the Eagle is a representation of world's languages, beliefs and
dreams. Pluck but one and the Eagle will suffer and its flight will
be untrue. The people are drawn to the power of the Eagle and
together, united by their uncommon differences, they walk towards
the Garden's Gate in search of world peace.
But the plaques are upon us. Drug abuse, Intolerance and the
Destruction of Mother Earth. These are the disciples of Greed. Greed
is a dark demon of tremendous power, an ancient enemy of the Pure
One, discarded and disregarded by Universal Truth. Mother Earth has
always provided for her children, thus there is no need for Greed.
Greed threatens to strip Mother Earth of her resources and makes
hollow promises to the hearts and minds of people.
The Eagle too has grown large, some feathers are bigger than others
or have been with the Eagle longer and their influence on the Eagle
is strong. This adds only delay in the journey to the Gate. The Pure
One must send a new message of love, unity and faith to guide the
Eagle and the people to true redemption. The Seed has grown deep
roots and must struggle to send the One Voice that may bring light
to our path, the children of the Nations and Religions of Mother
Earth. Only the children can learn from the mistakes of their
parents and seek out in earnest the truth. Blessed are the children.
