An accord, between the Temple of Advanced
Enlightenment and the Governments of the United States of America, to
immediately cease fire and end 35 years of hostilities in a combined
effort to inaugurate peace between our respective parties and begin the
process of rebuilding the communities that have been destroyed in the
War on Drugs.
We, the Children of the Temple of
Advanced Enlightenment do hereby declare; that we are a Native American
Inter-Disciplinary Minority Faith, that we are positive and productive
members of our beautiful and cherished free society, that we are
responsible for our families and communities, and that we cherish a
sincere and honest connection to Mother Earth and the Pure One only
through the mandated use of Cannabis as a Holy Sacrament, our Divine
Inheritance and Sacred Medicine. We will remain steadfast in protecting
our families, faith and communities.
We attest, that we share concerns for
public safety, that we also have a compelling interest in preventing
diversion to those who are not of our faith; moreover, we will ensure
all measures will be taken to deliver the safety and continuity of our
beloved communities and peoples.
We pledge ourselves to common goals for
the good of our free society. We pledge; to stand unified against drug
abuse, to demonstrate unwavering compassion for the sick and less
fortunate, and to aid in the manifestation of peace between all people
worldwide.
Furthermore, we testify openly and with
great reverence for our communities and conscience; that we suffer
irreparable harm inadvertently through the continued enforcement of any
provision the Controlled Substances Act which pertains to Cannabis
otherwise known as Marijuana. We do not support the legalization of
cannabis for any reason other than spiritual or medicinal use.
We testify with the utmost respect for
the freedoms of all, that The United States of America has an
inadvertent yet clearly defined denominational preference for the Native
American Church over other Native American faiths in the form of a long
standing exemption for the “religious and other use” of peyote. We
contemplate the tremendous impact that religious use has had on peyote
and the lack of widespread abuse.
We believe the widespread abuse of drugs
may be a direct result of intolerance and lack of spiritual guidance. We
know we can provide new tools for combating drug abuse through harm
reduction techniques, faith and a supportive network of loving community
members. There has never been a death attributed to marijuana. Aspirin
kills 500 people a year and is available over the counter.
We also testify that during Alcohol
Prohibition, The Volstead Act gave an unlimited exemption to all
churches for the sacrificial use of intoxicating liquors. It made no
denominational preference and also did not specify a type, style, or
variation of alcohol to be used. Alcohol was made legal and now kills
too many, a sign that its departure from spiritual use has created
widespread abuse.
We hold sacred in our hearts the memory
of the churches and people that broke the law to help slaves find
freedom through the creation of the Underground Railroad. We cherish the
rich history of our shared country, founded on the ideals of religious
freedom and equality for all. We honor those who have fought and died to
protect our many freedoms and varied ways of life.
We plead with the Governments of the
United States of America to end the needless persecution and segregation
of an unarmed and peaceful people. We beg for compassion, justice, and
freedom. We are wounded by the shrapnel of intolerance and left to
suffer from the carpet bombing of a failed Zero-Tolerance Ideology. We
are trapped in the trenches as refugees of an uncompassionate War on
Drugs. Every war must come to an end if there is to be peace, if there
is to be freedom, if we as a society want to win the real War on Drug
Abuse.
We respectfully request that you add your
signatures to this Peace Treaty to protect and respect the Constitution
of the State of Maine, The Maine Civil Rights Act, The Constitution of
the United States of America, The Religious Freedom Restoration Act, The
American Indian Religious Freedom Act, The Religious Land Use and
Institutionalized Persons Act, The International Religious Freedom Act,

Forms of Religious Intolerance, UN Resolution 36/55 the Declaration On

Council.
Let Peace, Patience & Compassion Grow!
